Sabri Ülker Center

FGI was commissioned by the Department of Genetics and Complex Diseases (GCD) at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health to create a brand identity for the Sabri Ulker Center – a new research center made possible through the generosity of the Ulker family, in honor of the late Sabri Ulker, one of Turkey’s most renowned entrepreneurs and food-industry pioneers.

Our design inspiration came from our research and reflection on the partnership between the Ulker family and Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. We thought it important to join the cultures of these illustrious institutions, which resulted in a brand identity that blends a shield-like shape, showing homage to the Harvard brand, and a tulip-like shape, which has deep cultural associations in Turkey. The identity is a bold and elegant symbol that unites two organizations with a common goal – to advance scientific exploration towards discovering innovative solutions for chronic diseases worldwide.

In addition to identity design and creating an array of associated branding materials, FGI also designed and produced SUC’s first annual report. The 2015 AR is a pictorial- and content-driven book, created mainly for Ulker executives, who have a vested interest in the work of the Sabri Ulker Center. The subsequent annual reports are an engaging summary of the Center’s commitment to uncovering novel scientific and medical solutions that impact all of humanity and improve the quality of life around the globe.
